Significant Support from Our Faculty for SDU's Retired Scholars Project
Süleyman Demirel University made a significant contribution to the "Veteran of the Century Project" under the patronage of the Presidency, which aimed to improve the social lives of retired individuals. This project, organized in 2024 in celebration of SDU’s 32nd anniversary, was conducted in two phases between August 26 and October 31, benefiting 32 retired individuals. The first phase took place at the main campuses of SDU, while the second phase was held at the Eğirdir Health Services Vocational School.
As part of the project, retirees had the opportunity to participate in various training sessions and workshops designed to support their physical and mental health. These included topics such as "Emotional Intelligence in Retirement," "Recreation and Ebru Art," "Music," "Yoga for Older Adults," "Sports and Health in Later Life," "Basic First Aid Techniques," "Dementia Prevention," "Geriatric Diseases," and "Healthy Eating."
One of the notable contributions to the project was the “Sports and Health in Later Life” course, taught by your esteemed faculty member Assoc. Prof. Dr. İbrahim Kubilay Türkay. These lessons provided participants with valuable insights and practical knowledge about the importance of healthy living and physical activity in later life. The contribution of your faculty to this important project further strengthens the university's commitment to social responsibility and its role in the community.
