10 November Atatürk Commemoration Table Tennis Tournament Held
The third “10 November Atatürk Commemoration Cup Tournament”, traditionally organized by Süleyman Demirel University Faculty of Sport Sciences, was held on 10 November 2025 at the Faculty’s Atatürk Sports Hall with high participation.
The tournament, which took place between 12:00 and 16:00, was organized in an atmosphere befitting the significance of 10 November, with the aim of commemorating Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, strengthening sportive solidarity, and enhancing interfaculty interaction.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Olcay Salici, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Sport Sciences, and Res. Asst. Dr. Murat Çimen played an active role in organizing the event. Students from the Faculty of Sport Sciences volunteered in various organizational duties. Certificates of Volunteer Participation were presented to these students in recognition of their efforts, allowing them to gain valuable organizational experience and contribute to their social transcripts.
A total of 42 participants, including students, academics, and administrative staff from various faculties — the Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, Faculty of Sport Sciences, and Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences — took part in the tournament.
In the women’s category, Cemre Koçer from the Faculty of Sport Sciences took first place, Sinem Havan from the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences placed second, and Havva Çelik from the Faculty of Sport Sciences finished third.
In the men’s category, Kaan Can Koca from the Faculty of Sport Sciences secured first place, Burak Korkmaz from the Faculty of Medicine came second, and Mehmet Merdan, also from the Faculty of Medicine, took third place.
Medals were presented to the top finishers by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Olcay Salici and Asst. Prof. Dr. Emrah Yılmaz, Head of Health, Culture and Sports Department Gültaze Gül, Faculty Secretary Nihal Kutsal, Res. Asst. Dr. Murat Çimen, and Res. Asst. Argun Aylin Göral.
The event, which harmonized with the spiritual significance of 10 November, concluded successfully with great interest from the participants. It was highly appreciated as an occasion that both honored Atatürk’s memory and promoted a culture of sport across the university.
