"Domestic Goods Week Competition Festival" Organized as Part of the Community Service Practices Course in the Department of Physical Education and Sports

On October 26, 2026, second-year students from the Department of Physical Education and Sports at the Faculty of Sports Sciences organized a "Domestic Goods Week Competition Festival" at Şehit Koray Akoğuz Primary School, as part of their Community Service Practices course. The event, designed to support the social, physical, and communicative development of primary school students, featured traditional children's games and various sports-oriented educational competitions. Supported by School Principal Ali Osman Güllü and classroom teachers Yaşar Özmen and Özlem Daşbaşı, the program fostered an engaging and instructive learning environment through the active participation of the students. The interactive educational activities held during the festival aimed to raise awareness among the primary school students regarding the preference for domestic products, the importance of local production, and the consumption of domestic goods. Through these games and competitions, the event also helped strengthen the students' skills in teamwork, cooperation, communication, and social interaction. At the conclusion of the festival, certificates of participation were presented to the students. This meaningful initiative, which strengthens social cooperation between the university and the primary school, helped our university students develop a sense of social responsibility and apply the knowledge and skills they have acquired for the benefit of society. In line with its commitment to community service, our department continues its efforts to contribute to various segments of society through educational, athletic, and social activities.
